US drug overdose deaths reach a new record high in the United States according to CNN. Some of the biggest acts in Hip Hop glorify usage and have influenced the youth to try and get higher in new ways outside of marijuana. Last year, November 15, 2017, Hip Hop lost breakout artist Lil Peep to a Fentanyl-Xanax overdose. This year rapper Fredo Santana died from kidney failure due to his addiction to promethazine also known as lean. J.Cole sheds light on America's youth battle with drugs with his newly released cover art for his upcoming album “KOD” scheduled to drop tomorrow April 20. 4/20 just so happens to be National Cannabis day. The album includes a small disclaimer "This album is in no way intended to glorify addiction" written above the depiction of J.Cole being a king and children and demons who use drugs beneath him.
